Ellie Compton

Who needs colors?
Seemingly chaotic worlds grounded by mechanics, structure and architectural features.
Ellie describes herself as a “chaos maker,” and her own story fits perfectly with her approach. While studying architecture, her thesis focused on architectural cross-sections, which she developed into her own unique form of artwork. She submitted her images to a drawing competition in New Zealand and was among the finalists. She then began working as an illustrator for clients alongside her work as an architect.
She now works as a full-time illustrator and has a long list of satisfied clients who particularly appreciate how all the details of her work are brought to life in Ellie's pictures – for her, it's amusing, invigorating, and even liberating.
Architecture and steampunk are among Ellie's most important sources of inspiration. She is fascinated by the mechanics of everyday things, from boats and buildings to entire cities.
